Ava's Photo Shoot

Ava had her photos taken professionally at age 1 week, but we did not like them at all. So, I decided to try out my super fancy Nikon D40 on her, and used the technique I saw another photographer do for Rylan's newborn photos. I think they turned out pretty well!

Calhoun Fair

On Sunday we took a trip to the Calhoun Fair!! The livestock were disappointing but Rylan enjoyed all the rides that he could! In fact, as we made our way around the circle, he thought we were leaving and started screaming - "I don't want to go back!" Ava slept through the whole thing.

Rewind

Going back to before Ava arrived, we enjoyed a weekend with cousin Draysen! Rylan had a blast with him and it was good practice for being a big brother!

Ava's Story

Ok, so now that things have settled down a bit, I can tell you more about me! I really enjoyed being inside Mommy's tummy so I decided to stay as long as possible! They were going to try to force me out on Sep 2, but I wanted to come on my own, so I just waited until the last minute. Contractions started Aug 31 at 4:30 pm and were every 5 minutes for several hours! Then mommy noticed they increased to every 2 minutes when standing up or walking but still only 5 minutes if sitting or lying. Just as she was getting impatient, her water broke at 2am! Off to the hospital we went. Mommy got an epidural about 5am and finally about 8am she was 8 cm. The nurse decided to drain her bladder -- which was very full after lots of IV fluids. Suddenly, my big cushy pillow was gone and I dropped down ready to come out! This also made my heart rate drop some so daddy and the nurse got all excited and put mommy on her left side and made her wear oxygen. But all I needed was for her to flip to the right side and my heart sped up! Mommy called Popo and Papa to tell them to hurry up and come to the hospital but they didn't make it! After only 2 pushes from Mommy I was born at 10:05 am! I started nursing like a pro on my very first try, only 45 minutes after being born. And later that day I had the biggest poop Daddy said he'd ever seen from a newborn! After only 24 hours in the hospital we all got to go home!

We are proud to introduce Ava Grace Yamamoto, born at 10:05 am on Labor Day, September 1, 2008 - no induction needed! She weighed 7#8oz and is 20 inches long.
